Features to know about

Charge Your Camper Battery While You Drive

Your 12V fridge keeps drawing power while you're driving, and the charge coming through a standard trailer connection may not be enough to keep up. The DMC50 provides 50-amp DC-to-DC charging from your vehicle's electrical system to your auxiliary battery. And with Vehicle Sense Technology, it detects when the vehicle is operating, so there's no separate ignition trigger wire to run.

Use Vehicle Power on the Road and Solar at Camp

Your camper's battery still needs charging after you park, especially when the fridge and lights are running. The DMC50 has a 50-amp adaptive MPPT solar charger built in, so compatible solar panels (sold separately) can charge your auxiliary battery at camp. It adjusts to changing sunlight, including low-light conditions, and limits charging current based on the battery capacity you program.

Keep Your Existing 12V Equipment as You Expand

Upgrading the charging side of your camper doesn't have to mean replacing an inverter or other equipment you already own. The DMC50 works with compatible 12V gear from different manufacturers, including solar controllers and inverters, so you can build around the equipment that's already working for you. And with a 500-amp busbar and integrated MEGA fuse protection, it brings power distribution and protection into the same unit.

Help Wake a Protected Lithium Battery

A lithium battery can shut off its output when its internal battery management system (BMS) reaches a protection threshold. The DMC50 has a controlled wake-up mode designed to bring a protected lithium battery back online and restore charging.

Check Your Battery System from a Web Browser

You don't need to buy a separate screen to keep track of your battery system. The DMC50 has an onboard display for basic checks, or you can connect a phone, tablet, or laptop to its Wi-Fi and open the dashboard in your browser. There, you can see power flow, battery charge level, voltage, and current, with monitoring from the built-in 500-amp smart shunt. You can also adjust system settings right from your device.

See what our Experts say about this Ark Battery Charger

  • Can Ark DC-DC Battery Charger Charge Lithium Batteries From Truck Alternator
Hey Jason! Yes, the Ark DC-DC Battery Charger # ARK46FR is compatible with lithium batteries and has a 50 amp DC-to-DC charging output. This is a great way to charge your trailer's battery bank from the tow vehicle while you're driving instead of relying on the limited charging you typically get through the 7-way. This is also a great setup for off-grid camping since it has a built-in MPPT solar controller along with a smart shunt for monitoring your battery bank. It also uses vehicle-sense...

  • Does Ark ARK46FR Replace Battery Monitor And Shunt
Hey Eric! You won't need to add a separate shunt with the Ark DC-DC Battery Charger # ARK46FR since it already has a 500 amp smart shunt built into the system. It also has Wi-Fi monitoring so you can keep track of the system without adding another standalone battery monitor and shunt. What kind of battery setup do you have in the trailer?

  • Does Ark ARK46FR Replace RV Converter Charger
Hey David! No, the Ark DC-DC Battery Charger # ARK46FR does not replace the converter in your travel trailer. You'll still need your converter for AC-to-DC charging when you're connected to shore power. The # ARK46FR ties into your existing electrical system and handles DC-to-DC charging from the tow vehicle along with solar charging through its built-in MPPT controller. It also has a 500 amp smart shunt for battery monitoring and 500 amp busbar distribution, so it combines several parts...

  • Can Ark DC-DC Battery Charger Be Added To Existing RV Electrical System
Hey Mike! No, you don't have to replace the rest of your electrical system to use the Ark DC-DC Battery Charger # ARK46FR. It's designed to work as a centralized power management system with mixed-brand 12V components, so you can keep your existing inverter and other equipment. It gives you 50 amp DC-to-DC charging, MPPT solar charging, a 500 amp smart shunt, and 500 amp busbar distribution all in one unit. This makes it a nice option when you're upgrading an existing system instead of...
